Recently, Telenor launched web lounge for buying persona postpaid connections online. We didn’t mention the security of billing system as we didn’t try it on our own. But a post made made at Pro Pakistani discussed about the insecurity of Telenor’s web lounge portal. The blog stated that the billing system for entering credit card information is not SSL secured and your credit card details are not protected at all. In response to the mentioning of insecurity of billing system at many Pakistani telecom blogs, Telenor has installed SSL certificate on their website thus making the web lounge billing system secure.

The following statement came out from Telenor office:

We appreciate the concern of bloggers towards this service, who highlighted the issue in early stages of launch. Telenor is always open to criticisms and give value to the words of its customers that in true sense highlight the loopholes. Telenor has strong relationships with internet medium and look forward to make it stronger in the future.

It is always important to check on internet that the page on which you are going to enter your payment details is SSL secured or not. As shown in the top image (click the thumbnail to enlarge image), there are two indications of SSL secured page:-

1. The URL of the page starts with https not with http.

2. There is a lock image at the bottom right of SSL secured page.

You can use your credit cards at Telenor web lounge portal without any hesitation because everything is SSL secured now
