Telenor Pakistan, in collaboration with its disability awareness advisor (STEP) Special Talent Exchange Program, has recently launched its flagship corporate initiative. Khuddar Pakistan aims to create dignified chances for persons with disabilities becoming the most disabled friendly organization in terms of service, employment and community support. Telenor Pakistan aims to integrate persons with disabilities into the organization, creating awareness about their abilities and include them fully into daily life with help of assistive technologies.
The launch of Khuddar Pakistan marks the following initiatives/milestones for Telenor Pakistan:-
a) Integration – Empowering environments
- The only company in Pakistan to have a formal disability advisor and a disability advisory panel.
- The largest base of persons with disabilities in the telecommunications sector.
- First company to have formal disability training sessions.
- First corporate products & services/career website that is fully accessible.
- Recruitment advertising that is inclusive of persons with disabilities.
- First office building (Paris Plaza) and S&SC (ISD) in telecoms that is fully accessible.
b) Inclusion – Empowering services
- Assistive technology training labs for persons with disabilities at partner institutions.
- Talent hunt at schools for young cricketers with visual impairments.
c) Awareness – Empowering People
- First corporate-sponsored disability awareness program on Radio.
- Pakistan’s first comprehensive service manual for persons with disabilities.
- First formal employee volunteerism drive in the corporate sector to work with persons with disabilities.
