PTA is working towards introducing new technologies in Pakistan and in this regard PTA plans to introduce much awaited 3G services very soon.
According to Business Recorder, PTA is taking every measure to facilitate the customers and thus they are working to provide 3G services to them. Once the service would be available, it would increase the data usage and value added services.
According to the data published by PTA, there are total 5 mobile operators, 14 long distance & international, 37 local loop operators and 11 WLL operators working in the country. The overall teledensity in the country has reached 62 percent (May 09) and launching 3G services is one of the steps PTA is taking to keep the upward trends in Telecom growth, a sector that is already contributing 2% of the GDP and it is expected that it will grow up to 3% in the coming years.
