The mobile subscribers stats revealed by PTA for July 2009 are quiet surprising in two ways. By surprising, I mean really surprising. The first surprising news is the acquiring of highest number of subscribers by Mobilink. Mobilink who almost lost away 30 million subscribers in first 6 months of 2009, acquired back 4 million in just July 2009. Let’s see if Mobilink gets back to the peak where it was a few years ago.
The second surprising news came from Ufone. The company which was said to be People’s Favorite and was in competition with Telenor for the 2nd position got the least number of new subscribers for July 2009. After acquiring the second highest subscribers till June 2009, Ufone acquired the least number of subscribers in July 2009 (even less than Zong).
However, I would not say the results are unexpected. Mobilink offered a lot of services to attract customers like Beat Your Own Usage etc. On the other hand, Telenor also offered SMS and voice buckets at a lot cheaper rates than Ufone. Keeping these stats in mind, Ufone really need to re-plan their company strategies.
