Three viruses FC.Downsis, ShadowSrv and BIT.NmapPlug are damaging the mobile phones through the control which these viruses get when games are downloaded and installed on Symbian mobile sets. Some activities such as access to phonebook is allowed when the virus infected game is installed. As soon as virus gets control over the mobile, the malware sends text messages to other people from your phonebook which contain links to malicious websites. All the sent items messages are deleted as well by the virus so that you don’t get any idea about the messages sent to your contacts by the virus.

According to NetQin(mobile anti-virus providers), the purpose of virus creation is unknown. The propagation model of these three viruses is a serious threat for the mobile users as well as mobile companies. These viruses further interfere with personal privacy by nabbing the phone IMSI, IMEI, installation list and SMS call center. Chief security technologist of Symbian foundation Craig Heath said that this type of problem is usually solved by revoking the Symbian certification (verification of applications) for the software. He further says that NetQin does not inform directly about bot-net. These viruses will affect millions of Nokia, Samsung and Sony Ericson users. But, Heath says that it’s a minor attack as compare to desktop PCs.
