One of the Japan’s largest mobile telecom companies, NTT-DOCOMO, has showed its interest to invest in Pakistan and to enter into a business enterprise with a local mobile operator. Iftikhar Babar, Economic Minister, Pakistan Embassy in Tokyo told The News after his visit to NTT-DOCOMO head office that NTT-DOCOMO is the foremost provider of leading-edge mobile voice data and multimedia services with about 56 million customers in Japan is one of the leading mobile phone operators in the world.

The company with a market share of 50 percent is a contributory of government of Japan. The capital of the company stood at 949 billion yen and operating revenues stood at four trillion yen, he said. During 2009, the company has earned revenue of 840 billion yen. The company had invested $2.6 billion in India and is engaged in combined project with Tata Teleservices Limited. They also have intentions to prevail their business in developing countries after spending $400 million in a Bangladeshi mobile company.

While giving the presentation to company executives, Iftikhar Babar presented the detailed information on the increased prospective of Pakistan telecom industry. The company executives were also clued-up about the incentives package, concessions and facilities being offered to the foreign investors, the statement said, adding that the Japanese officials showed their interest to start business enterprises with a mobile operator in Pakistan.
